Heat Pump Installation Services in Sandown, NH
A heat pump heats your space in winter and cools it in summer from the same equipment. We help you choose the right type for your property and install it properly.
Ductless Heat Pump (Mini-Split) Installation
Ductless systems pair an outdoor unit with one or more indoor units, with no ductwork needed. They suit additions, finished attics, garages, and homes with baseboard heat, and each zone gets its own temperature control. Looking at mini-splits specifically? See our HVAC services.
Ducted & Whole-Home Heat Pump Systems
If your property already has ductwork, a ducted heat pump can heat and cool multiple rooms through one central system. During your assessment we look at your existing ducts and air handler and tell you honestly whether ducted or ductless makes more sense.
Heat Pump Replacement & Upgrades
Replacing an aging heat pump, central air system, or other cooling equipment? We handle the removal, installation, and startup so your new system runs the way it should.
Heat Pump Electrical Work
Heat pumps need properly sized circuits and disconnects. We run dedicated circuits and wiring as part of the install, and upgrade your panel if your current service cannot support the new equipment.
Residential & Commercial Installations
We install heat pumps in homes and in small commercial spaces such as offices and shops. Sizing and layout depend on how the space is used.
System Selection Guidance

- When to Call
When Does a Property Need a Heat Pump Installer?Heat Pump Installer?
Call a licensed heat pump installer if you:
- Heat with electric baseboard, oil, or propane and want a more efficient option
- Have rooms or additions that never feel comfortable
- Want air conditioning and heating without running two separate systems
- Need to replace a failing heat pump, air conditioner, or older system
- Are renovating, adding on, or building new
- Are planning other electrical upgrades, like a panel upgrade or EV charger
- Want a straight answer on which system fits your property
- Power Capacity
Is Your Electrical Panel Ready for a Heat Pump?
A heat pump is as much an electrical project as an HVAC one. Older 100-amp panels can run short of capacity once you add a heat pump, an EV charger, or other modern equipment. If your panel is full or breakers trip often, an upgrade may be needed first.
Because Arete handles both electrical and HVAC, we check your panel and circuits during the assessment, so the power supply matches the equipment before installation day. Explore our electrical services

We hired Arete Electric to installed ductless air conditioning and upgrade our electric panel. They quoted the job to be completed in 2 days, we could not believe that they completed the job in that time. They did not rush, the quality of the work was higher than expected, great team of electricians. Fully professional, and respectful of our home - thinking of details I wouldn’t have not have thought of, but now notice and appreciate. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have electrical or air conditioning installationPosted on Google![]()

If honesty, fair prices, transparency, empathy and integrity are what you are looking for in an electric/HVAC company, look no further than Arete Electric! I cannot recommend them more! My very old heater broke in the coldest winter we’ve had in years. Another electrician I called recommended Arete Electric . Tom quickly got to work diagnosing and ordering a replacement heater and quoted me a price way below what I ever expected, and I’ve had to replace one in a previous house. This also included replacing a light switch and a doorbell. Since the heater would be ready to pick up the next day, I would be without heat. Tom drove out to buy and install a couple of high quality space heaters to get me through the night. The next day, work was done efficiently and quickly and I have not had a problem since! I was so fortunate to find them, this is my electric/HVAC company for life!!Posted on Google![]()

We hired Arete Electric to upgrade our electrical output from 100 to 200 amps this past summer in order to make our house compatible for a new central air system. We could not have been happier with this decision because not only did Tom and his crew do an amazing job at the electrical upgrade, but we were so impressed with the job they did, we ended up hiring them to install our central air system. Arete Electric was polite, prompt, professional and very knowledgeable in their craft. We couldn't be any happier with the work that Arete completed for us and we will definitely be using them for any further electrical jobs we may have in the future. Thanks again TomPosted on Google![]()

I purchased a heat pump system from a company that no longer works in residential systems. I found this company from a social media request, and they’ve been fantastic. I bring them in annually to inspect my system, and they’re always thorough and great to work with.Posted on Google![]()

Precise, prompt, and professional do not begin to express the wonderful experience I just had with Arete Electric and HVAC. Having purchased an electric vehicle, I needed to have installed an EV charging station, outside my house and next to the driveway. My anxiety was high, and my knowledge of electricity is limited to the shocks I get when touch the wrong wires. To my pleasant surprise, the owner himself, Tom, made the initial service call and answered every question thoroughly to m satisfaction. We set a date for the installation, and it went without a hiccup or issue. He worked side by side his installers digging the trench, helping to run the wires, make the cement, and even cut and stained the post personally. He rounds out his team with his wife who remained in constant contact with me, making sure that all my needs were met. Arete Electric and HVAC has earned my vote as southern NH's best electric company. Thank you, Tom, and team. Doug Robinson, Derry
Heat Pump Installation FAQs: Sandown, NH
Who installs heat pumps near Sandown, NH?
Arete Electric & HVAC Services is a licensed, family-owned contractor based in Sandown, NH. We install ductless and ducted heat pumps for homes and businesses across Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts. Call 603-453-2537 for a free assessment.
Do heat pumps work in New Hampshire winters?
Yes. Cold-climate heat pumps are designed to keep heating as temperatures drop, and many New England homes use them as a main heat source. Performance at very low temperatures varies by model, so we explain what to expect from the system we recommend and whether a backup heat source makes sense for your property.
What is the difference between a heat pump and a mini-split?
A mini-split is a type of heat pump that uses indoor units without ductwork. Other heat pumps use ducts to serve the whole property. Both heat and cool. The right choice depends on your layout and any existing ducts.
Will I need an electrical panel upgrade for a heat pump?
Sometimes. A heat pump, an EV charger, and other modern equipment can outgrow an older panel. We check your panel capacity during the assessment and tell you upfront if an upgrade is needed.
How much does heat pump installation cost in Sandown, NH?
Cost depends on the type of system, the number of zones, the size of the space, and any electrical work needed. We offer free assessments and give you clear pricing before any work starts.
How long does heat pump installation take?
It depends on the system type and the number of zones. We give you a realistic timeline in your quote.
Can you install a heat pump for my business?
Yes. We handle heat pump installation for both residential and commercial properties.
Can one company handle both my HVAC and electrical work?
Yes. Arete Electric & HVAC Services is one licensed contractor for both trades. That means one point of contact, one schedule, and electrical circuits planned to match your heating and cooling equipment.
Are there rebates for heat pumps?
Utility and state incentives change over time and have eligibility rules. Ask us during your assessment, and check your utility's current program details before you buy. We are a Mass Save® Heat Pump Certified Contractor for Massachusetts customers.
